Solicitors - Some Facts
Almost 20,000 students were accepted on to an LLB course in 2009, and in the same year 9,337 students enrolled onto the LPC. However, in 2010, only 4,784 training contracts were made available (Law Society). This represents an 18% decline compared to 2009 figures.
If the market doesn’t sound competitive enough already, then let’s also consider the number of students applying for training contracts who did a non-law degree.
In the face of such competition you need to focus on achieving the all important 2:1 and keep developing your skills (through work experience, part time work, volunteering and extra-curricular activities) and commercial awareness.
This section of the website is to help 2nd year students work who are hoping to apply for vacation schemes and training contracts.
