As part of Mediation Awareness Week, this session seeks to challenge the misconceptions and prejudices so frequently associated with mediation. In so doing, it will identify the often unexpected achievements produced by mediation. Bringing together three rising stars in mediation with experience across a great breadth of disputes, both national and international, this panel will share fresh perspectives and reflections on mediation.
Mia Forbes Pirie
International facilitator, mediator and coach. Former City solicitor and head of ADR at a boutique law firm, Mia specialises in resolving difficult conflict. In addition to commercial and workplace clients, she has worked with Members of Parliament, governments, religious organisations, NGOs, and charities.
Guy Hollingworth
Barrister and mediator at One Essex Court. Guy specialises in intellectual property law. He has found, both as a barrister and as a mediator, that IP disputes are particularly suited to mediation because of the flexibility of the process and potential outcomes available.
Suzanne Rab
Barrister and mediator at Serle Court. Suzanne’s core area of practice is EU and competition law where she has represented businesses, public authorities and NGOs over the past twenty years. Suzanne focuses on disputes in industries that are subject to sector regulation.
Anna Howard
Solicitor, mediator, and PhD candidate at The Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS), Queen Mary University of London.
