This event is part of the State Crime Seminar Series hosted by the International State Crime Initiative (ISCI) at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). The seminar will be delivered by Carly Nyst, a human rights lawyer and independent consultant working on technology and human rights. She was previously the legal director of Privacy International.
Based on her expertise in technology and international human rights frameworks as well as her ground-breaking journalism for The Guardian, Carly’s seminar talk is entitled 'Challenging State Power: Surveillance, Privacy and Human Rights'. The talk aims to give a better understanding of the challenges and limitations of digital communication and privacy in an era of increasingly intrusive surveillance.
