This lunchtime session will provide a space for ‘critical friends’ to converse over recent research developments. On this occasion we will focus on care-related issues and consider how questions of relationality, voice and framing have an impact on legal discourses of health and family.
We will hear from Mary Donnelly, author of Healthcare Decision-making and the Law: Autonomy, Capacity and the Limits of Liberalism (Cambridge UP, 2014), senior lecturer at University College Cork and guest lecturer on QMUL’s MSc in Mental Health and Law; Rosemary Hunter, expert in family justice and feminist judging, investigator of Mapping Paths to Family Justice, an ESRC collaborative project, and recently appointed Professor of Law and Socio-Legal Studies at QMUL; and Shazia Choudhry, co-author of European Human Rights and Family Law (Hart, 2010), recently appointed Specialist Adviser to the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights, and Reader in Law at QMUL.
