Dr Alan Littler from Kalff, Katz & Franssen (Amsterdam) is giving a guest lecture the Cyberspace Law lecture.
The lecture examines the conflicts between different jurisdiction in regulating online gambling. Online gambling service providers can establish themselves in any country of the world and promote and provide their services remotely, without ever setting foot in the consumers' jurisdiction. Currently most states in the world prohibit/ regulate through a licensing system online gambling, but can this prohibition/ regulation be enforced? How is consumer protection ensured in a sector which can involve large amounts to consumer spending?
