IP Guest Lecture: Publicity Rights and Celebrity Licenses in the US

The lecture will cover current problems of the US publicity right, as an intellectual property right allowing celebrities to control the commercial exploitation of aspects of their persona. Issues such as the interface between such right to control and conflicting interests, for example as regards freedom of speech or art will be discussed, as well as the relationship between the publicity right and trade mark law in the US.

The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception in the Shield.
