"Dr Prakash Shah is to join a research group funded by France's Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) to examine conflicts of laws in legal cases concerning the South Asian diaspora. Dr. Shah's own part of the research will involve an examination and analysis of current legal cases and modern legislation in the UK, in particular the demands for recognition of group specific issues as well as specific questions of legal importance, notably in matrimonial contexts. The research aims to elucidate the methodology of recognition of diaspora South Asian norms in British law. A first seminar is currently being planned to be held in Paris in the autumn of 2009."
