Queen Mary IP and Computer Law experts awarded £47,000 by Microsoft Corporation for research on Open Source software licences

Professor Ian Walden and Noam Shemtov have been awarded a gift of £47,500 by Microsoft Corporation to conduct research on Open Source Software licenses.

 The Project investigates and aims to map relevant aspects of all commercially significant open source licenses and their legal effect especially with respect to copyleft provisions, patents related provisions, interoperability, compatibility and linking.
