Published:

Funding has been secured to host a conference that will bring together academics, early-career researchers, practitioners and other stakeholders to discuss migration governance at sea, with special emphasis on the intersection between human rights protection and maritime security.

Dr Violeta Moreno-Lax, together with Efthymios Papastavridis and Dr David Cantor (Refugee Law Initiative), has obtained funding from the UACES (University Association for Contemporary European Studies) Small Event Grants scheme (£1,000) and the Human Rights Consortium of the School of Advanced Study of the University of London Conference Grants scheme (£2,000). The conference 'Boat Refugees' and Migrants at Sea: A Comprehensive Approach Integrating Maritime Security with Human Rights' will take place on 23-24 June 2014 in London and produce a collected volume with selected papers.
