Professor Geraldine Van Bueren QC - Fees: A human rights issue

Published:

Professor Geraldine Van Bueren QC 'Fees: A human rights issue' in Times Higher Education.

Professor Van Bueren QC writes that international law could help opponents of rising tuition costs fight their battle. She explains that “international law regards a university education as a universal human right”, with the UK – since 1976 – legally bound by the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, which requires all states to introduce progressively free university education.
