Queen Mary’s Legal Advice Centre, Student Bar Society, Pro Bono Society and Law Society are to join forces to raise money for the London Legal Support Trust on Monday 22 May 2013. The Queen Mary team, a mixture of QM students and staff, will join 403 other teams of legal professionals as they walk and run 10 kilometres along London’s river banks in the 2013 'London Legal Walk'.

Last year, more than 6,000 people took part in the London Legal Walk and raised over £540,000 for free legal services in London. This is the fifth year that the LAC will take part in the event and the third time for the Bar Society.

Julie Pinborough, Centre Manager for the Legal Advice Centre, says, “The annual walk is even more vital this year with the recent cut backs in legal aid leading to some centres struggling to support the influx of clients. Our students at the School of Law continue their commitment to access to justice by aiming to raise over £2,000. The London Legal Walk provides us with the opportunity to be a part of the largest gathering in the profession.”

Joseph Holland of 'Commercial Awareness' magazine is generously sponsoring the Queen Mary team's t-shirts this year.
