Duke-CCLS Students' Trans-Atlantic Competition Winner Announced

The winner of the first trans-atlantic competition jointly organised by Duke University School of Law (Duke) and the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) has been announced as William Paris, an LLM student at the School of Law.

The competition was organised by Professor Mitu Gulati (Duke) and Professor Rodrigo Olivares-Caminal (CCLS) and entrants were tasked to submit a 10 page memorandum based on a problem solving exercise regarding the enforcement of contractual rights in a debt instrument.

Entries were judged by Sir Robin Knowles CBE (The Hon Mr Justice Knowles CBE) (the Royal Courts of Justice) Professor Anna Gelpern (Georgetown University) and Professor Mark C Weidemaier (University of North Carolina).

Mr Paris was awarded an antique sovereign bond as well as the possibility of having his research published in International Corporate Rescue, a bi-monthly journal covering the most relevant issue in insolvency and corporate rescue law.
