After a post-crisis surge in central bankers’ power, some politicians want to rein in their role – reports the Financial Times. Rosa Lastra, Professor of International Financial and Monetary Law at Queen Mary University of London, comments “Central banks have become supremely powerful and if power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. We need to be more innovative in designing accountability,”.
