The European Copyright Society issues position paper on the Advocate’s General Opinion

Published:

The European Copyright Society, whose members include Jonathan Griffiths, Reader in Intellectual Property Law at Queen Mary University of London, has issued a position paper on the Advocate’s General Opinion in C-572/13 HP Belgium v Reprobel. This reference to the Court of Justice concerns the question of whether or not part of the “fair compensation” payable under copyright levy systems can be paid to publishers, rather than authors, of copyright works. The position paper is available here [PDF 694KB].

The European Copyright Society was founded in 2012 with the aim of creating a platform for independent and critical scholarly thinking on European copyright law.
