Dr Prakash Shah pens 'Is Myanmar destined for partition?' for the Pioneer

Writing for the Pioneer, Dr Prakash Shah, Reader in Culture and Law at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), comments on the current situation in Myanmar; particularly regarding the Rohingyas of its Rakhine State. He highlights several seemingly separate developments that, considered together, could “form parts of a puzzle that tells a larger or particular story that is otherwise unexpected.” On Kashmir, Dr Shah argues that the cause of persecuted Muslims could be used to argue for secession, ultimately leading to the formation of yet another sharia state. He concludes that Indian courts may well have to consider much more than the legal status of the Rohingya, and sooner than they may like. Read the full article.
