QLLM344 The Law of Film (Sem 1)

Module description

This module introduces students to skills in reading film and intellectual property critically and analytically. Students will undertake interdisciplinary evaluation of film protection and commercialisation, using film theory, fan and cultural studies, and the law, to consider global commercial and cultural markets, as well as cultural and socio-economic aspects of adaptation, documentary, social media, revision and distribution. Case studies include specific film texts, adaptation and translation, user-generated content and contemporary sampling.
