The School of Law will be offering four 'Opportunities in Law' Partial Scholarships worth £3,000 each to applicants of the following nationalities for its taught LLM programmes:

  • Colombia
  • Kazakhstan
  • Sri Lanka
  • Uganda

Opportunities in Law Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need. Unlike other School of Law Scholarships, Opportunities in Law Scholarships are not dependant upon students completing a particular course of study while on the LLM.

What are scholarship winners required to do?

All successful candidates for the full LLM scholarship and the Ugandan, Kazakhstani, Colombian and Sri Lankan partial-scholarship will be required to work two hours a week unpaid, assisting the LLM Office and Law Marketing Team with administrative work and research and assisting at the postgraduate law open evenings.

Applying for the LLM 'Opportunities in Law' Partial Scholarships

Applicants are required to submit the following:

  1. A completed LLM scholarship application form [PDF 106KB] or [MS Word 1,505KB] and
  2. A covering letter (approximately 500 words) explaining why you should be considered, detailing your academic accomplishments and your financial need, should be sent to Penny Stavrinou at p.stavrinou@qmul.ac.uk.

Deadline

The closing date for the receipt of Scholarship applications is Monday 4 April 2011.

You must have an offer of study in place before you can apply for LLM funding. This means that you must make sure that you apply for the LLM as early as possible.

Students of the following nationalities: Colombia, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka or Uganda, who have applied for either a Law Department or CCLS LLM Full Scholarship will automatically be considered for this partial award (only one award per student). Students who are successful in obtaining a full scholarship will not be eligible to receive a partial award.


Award Process

Successful applicants will be notified by June 2011.

Scholarship awards will be deducted from tuition fees payable to the college. They will not be paid directly to successful applicants.
