A financial award (tuition fees only) is offered to Egyptian nationals to help fund a PhD in International Economic and Development Law at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS).
Applications are invited for the Ibrahim Shihata (Sawiris Foundation) Scholarship for one candidate to complete a three year PhD programme in International Economic and Development Law at Queen Mary, University of London. The Scholarship is funded by the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development www.sawirisfoundation.org and is managed by the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) at Queen Mary, University of London. A Selection Committee will assess all applications and conduct interviews in Cairo. The Scholarship covers the cost of tuition fees and travelling expenses. The successful candidate will be expected to cover living expenses in London for the duration of the programme.
Eligibility
- Egyptian national residing normally in Egypt and committed to returning to Egypt following completion of the PhD.
- Hold a university degree in law or a related discipline (e.g. political science, economics) with a strong law component.
- Proof of academic excellence and relevant experience or research.
- Must be able to satisfy the Queen Mary University of London entry requirements for the MPhil/PhD programme in law.
- Demonstrate proficiency and command of the English language to Queen Mary University of London entrance standards for research students in Law.
- Demonstrate an inability to finance a PhD outside Egypt from own resources.
