Semester in London Programme Partial Scholarship 2014

The School of Law is offering two Semester in London Partial Scholarship – one by the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) and the other by the Department of Law - each worth £3,000.

You must have an offer of study for the Semester in London Programme before you apply for the partial scholarship. You should therefore apply as early as possible. Students who have not completed their application by 30 June 2014 will not be considered for a partial scholarship.

Eligibility

  • Penultimate/final year law students (first degree / JD / bachelors of law or a degree with a substantial law content), with good academic grades equivalent to at least upper-second class honours. Students with international qualifications should visit www.qmul.ac.uk/international for more information.
  • Non-native English language speakers are required to meet the standard PG law English language entry requirements.
  • Law students from the following institutions with whom Queen Mary’s School of Law has long standing Semester in London agreements: the University of Texas, USA and Bucerius Law School, Germany.
  • Independent law students from around the world who get approval from their home institution to spend one semester to follow five LLM classes from September to December at Queen Mary.
  • Partial scholarships are available to applicants holding either a conditional or unconditional offer for the Semester in London Programme.
  • To be awarded the CCLS Partial Scholarship, you will need to select a minimum of three of the five modules from those offered by the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (marked CCLS on the partial scholarship application form).
  • To be awarded the Department of Law Partial Scholarship, you will need to select a minimum of three of the five modules from those offered by the Department of Law (marked DoL on the on the partial scholarship application form).
  • Further details and a list of CCLS and Department of Law modules (which together make up the LLM Programme offered by the School of Law) are on the partial scholarship application form. Students can only apply for either a CCLS or a Department of Law partial scholarship.

Criteria

Applicants need to complete the partial scholarship application form, including answering the set question to demonstrate their reasoning for being awarded a partial scholarship based on the following criteria:

  • Academic merit
  • Financial need

How are the partial scholarships paid?

These partial scholarships will be deducted from tuition fees payable to the college.

What are partial scholarship winners required to do?

Partial scholarship winners may be asked to assist the Law Marketing Team with marketing events such as the postgraduate law open evenings and web student profiles.
