LLM Study Programmes

Each of the LLM programmes follows a common format: you will take classes in three taught modules (examined in May-June) and thereafter you work on a 15,000-word dissertation (submitted in late August). What differs from programme to programme is the range of modules that you are required to choose from. Of course, if you wish to take an unrestricted range of modules and any approved dissertation topic related to law you may do so and graduate with the General LLM.

Students who want to graduate from one of the specialised LLM programmes must study:

  • Three of the taught modules on the relevant specialised list plus write their dissertation in the field of specialisation OR
  • Two of the taught modules on the relevant specialised list plus write their dissertation in the same field and then choose a further taught module* from the general list of modules.

(*or the equivalent if half-modules are selected)
