University of London External LLM (Online)
In addition to Queen Mary's Distance Learning LLM and our main LLM programme, The University of London offers an External LLM.
The University of London Master of Laws (LLM) can be studied at your own pace through the External System, following a self-study programme. The University of London External System is almost 150 years old, and the LLM has been offered to External students for more than 80 years. The Postgraduate Laws programme offers the opportunity to gain the same qualification awarded to students enroled with one of the University's colleges but without enroling for full time study. It is assessed to the same high standard as the LLM within one of the University's colleges.
You are not required to study at a University of London college, so there are no relocation or travel costs and you can continue working full time. Exams can almost always be taken in your home country, through the University's network of more than 600 exam centres. Entry to the LLM programme is available to law graduates who had good university results and to practising lawyers. The Postgraduate Laws programme offers dozens of courses and almost 30 specialisations.
The academic management of the Postgraduate Laws programme for External students is provided jointly by the Departments of Law of Queen Mary and University College London (UCL). Both Departments of Law at Queen Mary and UCL have 5 Star-rated law schools, the top possible in the United Kingdom. Lecturers from Queen Mary and UCL Departments of Law and other University of London colleges plan the structure and content of the course offerings, develop and write detailed study materials, set the examination papers, and mark scripts.
