The Competition in Brief

The 2013 competition has now closed. All undergraduate LLB and Juris Doctor students were invited to submit a 2,000 word essay on the theme ‘Authority in a Transnational Age’. The prize for the winning student was a return economy fare from their home institution to London for an international conference on the theme Authority in a Transnational Age, hosted by the Centre for Law and Society in a Global Context, on 8 and 9 November 2013. The prize also included accommodation for four nights, free entry to the conference (including conference refreshments), and the possibility of presenting the essay at the Department of Law, Queen Mary University of London, a day prior to the conference.
The winner of the 2013 essay competition is Ms Karolina Wisniewski. Karolina is currently enrolled in the combined Juris Doctor (JD) / Master of Arts (MA) in Philosophy program at Osgoode Hall Law School and the Department of Philosophy at York University in Toronto. Karolina will be presenting her essay at the Inaugural Meeting of the Network on Transnational Legal and Political Theory, hosted by the CLSGC.
