M104 LLB (Hons) Global Law (four years)

With law firms all over the world expanding on an international scale, the LLB in Global Law gives selected students the opportunity to expand their legal portfolio beyond the UK. This programme encompasses an ever expanding selection of partner institutions and will allow you to experience a different country, study law in a different jurisdiction, and add invaluable assets to your CV.

You will study years one and two in London at Queen Mary, your third year studying law at one of our partner institutions, and then will return to Queen Mary for your final year. The structure of the course content taught at Queen Mary can be found on our LLB Law M100  pages.

Currently there are placements in Brazil (São Paulo); Canada (Toronto); China (Shanghai); India (National Capital Region of Delhi and Bangalore); Singapore; United States (Texas) with agreements in the process of being negotiated with leading universities in Australia and Japan. You should apply directly through UCAS onto the LLB M100 programme and you will have the opportunity to apply to this programme during your second year.

The fees for the third year of the programme are significantly lower, with Home/EU students paying 15 per cent of the usual cost and Overseas students responsible for 50 per cent tuition fees.

Brazil - University of São Paulo Faculty of Law

This is a great opportunity to study in the oldest and most prestigious Faculty of Law in Brazil. The University of Sao Paulo is constantly ranked among the best in Latin America and its Faculty of Law is located at the historical centre of a multicultural metropolis.

Canada – Osgoode Hall Law School at York University (Toronto)

This opportunity will see a group of students head off to Toronto to study Law at world renowned Osgoode Hall, York University. The University is based in Toronto, recently ranked the best city in the world to live for young people according to the Economist and an index by YouthfulCities. Osgoode Hall is one of the top law schools in Canada and has been ranked 51st in the world for the last three years in the QS rankings.

China - East China University of Political Science and Law (Shanghai)  

With many UK and US law firms expanding into Asia, China is a great place to go on a year abroad. Students will have the opportunity to study at two leading Chinese Law Schools:

  • The East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPS) which is based in China’s biggest city, Shanghai. Find out more about ECUPS.

India - Jindal Global Law School (National Capital Region of Delhi) and National Law School of India University (Bangalore)

This excellent opportunity offers QMUL law students the possibility of spending two semesters at two different leading Indian law schools. The first semester is spent at the Jindal Global Law School which is part of the Jindal Global University and is based in the National Capital Region of Delhi. The second semester is spent at the National Law School of India University in Bangalore.

Singapore - National University of Singapore

The National University of Singapore (NUS) is one of the world’s leading universities as illustrated by its position of respectively 12th and 26th in the latest QS World University Rankings and THES World University Rankings. Its Law School was rated 16th in the latest QS World University Rankings by subject.

USA – University of Texas School of Law (Austin)

This strand of the LLB Global Law programme will give you the opportunity to live and study for the year in Texas, USA. The University of Texas is ranked 28th in the World University Rankings by Times Higher Education. Students can be sure of both an excellent standard of education and a great experience, with the city of Austin growing every popular both in the US and overseas.
