The recent financial crisis and the continuing wave of corporate scandals are forcefully bringing to the fore the need to reshape corporate behaviour. They have also dramatically changed the boundaries of companies’ duties and responsibilities to include more sustainable financial activities and a greater degree of engagement with different constituencies.

Being aware of the pivotal role played by Academia in educate future generations in these areas, the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) at Queen Mary is offering a whole postgraduate module on Ethics in Business and in Finance with a strong practical imprint. As part of the module, Dr Costanza Russo, course leader, is pleased to announce the details of this year's series of open lectures that will be held by distinguished guest speakers.

Classes will be open to all Queen Mary postgraduate students and are targeted particularly at those with an interest in the fields of Banking and Finance; International Commercial Law; Insurance Law; Company Law and Corporate governance. Topics will vary from the LIBOR scandal to fraud and economic crime and to the analysis of episodes of questionable regulatory behaviour. Students will also benefit from the personal experience of prominent practitioners that have witnessed and have been themselves faced with many ethical dilemmas.

Please note that some lectures are open to Queen Mary students only.

The open lectures will take place at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary University of London, 67-69 Lincoln’s Inn Fields, WC2A 3JB, London, unless otherwise noted.
